From the JBPro Projects Archive

At JBPro, we have been committed to providing quality civil engineering, surveying, land planning, and construction services for over 25 years. In that time, our clients have invited us to partner with them on every type of project – from residential to commercial, streetscapes to stormwater, parking lots to parks and recreation. No matter the scope or scale, JBPro proudly dedicates our technical expertise and attention to detail to create something that will stand the test of time. Here is an in-depth look at just a few of the projects we have completed over the years as the premier engineering firm in Gainesville, Florida.

Institutional

Donald Dizney Lacrosse Stadium

In 2008, the University of Florida’s Donald R. Dizney Lacrosse Stadium was the newest capital improvement project undertaken at the time by the University of Florida’s Athletic Association to introduce NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse as their latest NCAA competitive sport.

This impressive 12-acre complex consists of a 1500 seat stadium and game day field, practice fields, locker rooms, concession facilities, maintenance facilities, and parking. JBPro (formerly Brown & Cullen, Inc.) partnered with RDG Planning and Design for the $14,000,000 project and provided overall site layout, recreational field design services, major utility relocations and design, stormwater management design, roadway and parking improvement design, and a unique irrigation system utilizing harvested stormwater reclaimed water and backup water supply sources. The project was completed on time and within budget, ultimately obtaining LEED Gold Certification.

Parking

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium North Parking Lot

In 2001, the University Athletic Associated at the University of Florida brought JBPro onboard for a $200,000 project to provide premium parking facilities for UF football game days at the lot at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium’s north side.

As the lot is adjacent to W. University Avenue at the gateway to the UF campus, we paid particular attention to the parking facility’s aesthetic design features. The lot was designed to fit in as a plaza hardscape when not used as a parking facility while not standing out as a parking lot at the UF campus’s north edge.

The lot was constructed entirely of pavers and designed to be completely low-impact with paver drive aisles, and grass stabilized spaces. The layout included tree plantings and natural stormwater improvements designed to create a natural feel for the space. The project was permitted on a fast-track schedule for construction to be completed over the summer months and be available for the fall football season. The project was approved by the UF review committees, and the stormwater management improvements were designed in conformance to the UF Master Stormwater Plan.

Mixed-Use

Magnolia Parke PD

Magnolia Parke PD is a 33-acre mixed-use planned development by the Denney Family Limited Partnership. Located on the north side of NW 39th Avenue between NW 43rd Street and NW 51st Street, Magnolia Parke offers restaurants, retail space, apartments, and office space, including several UF Shands medical facilities and the Gainesville campus of St. Leo College.

The multi-function development is a pedestrian-friendly community with landscaped sidewalks, decorative lighting, and a park located in the development center. JBPro (formerly Brown & Cullen, Inc.) provided master planning of the overall development, as well as civil engineering design permitting of all development phases for the $10,000,000+ project, serving our client with creative urban design and City of Gainesville planning.

Streetscape

NW 17th Street Streetscape

The City of Gainesville Public Works Department brought JBPro in on a $400,000 project involving the three-block section of NW 17th Street, immediately north of West University Avenue and the University of Florida campus. The project involved re-designing the entire right-of-way to accommodate increased sidewalk widths, enhanced crosswalks, shade trees in urban tree wells, pedestrian scale lighting, and street furniture. Through diligent coordination with the City staff, adjacent neighbors, and citizen advocates, JBPro (formerly Brown & Cullen, Inc.) provided an aesthetically pleasing and highly functional design for this congested traffic corridor.

JBPro provided the initial design, neighborhood workshops, final design, final bidding, and construction management for this highly successful project from 2000-2002. In 2009, JBPro completed an additional complementary project for the Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area to improve the sidewalks by changing their pavers from concrete to brick.
