Suwannee County Catalyst Site Water Main Extension

Live Oak, FL

Located in Live Oak, Florida, the Catalyst Site is a 500-acre industrial park intended to attract new manufacturing and industrial businesses to the Suwannee County region.

Specifically, the project involved installation of around 17,000 LF of 12-inch PVC water main piping.  JBPro partnered with Suwannee County to support the development of the Catalyst Site, a 500-acre industrial park designed to attract new manufacturing and industrial businesses to the region. The project included the extension of the existing potable water system, with the installation of approximately 17,000 linear feet of 12-inch PVC water main to connect the county’s water treatment plant to the I-10 interchange. Our role in the project included engineering plan review, daily onsite construction inspections, and coordination with County staff. We supported the client through civil engineering review, construction monitoring, photo and video documentation, and regulatory compliance oversight.

How JBPro Served This Project

To ensure successful construction, JBPro’s civil engineering staff and engineering inspectors assisted Suwannee County in reviewing the design of the water main extension and installation of the water main as by the contractor. As part of our inspection work, JBPro provided daily onsite inspection services that predominantly involved monitoring of contractor construction work activity, evaluation of work quality, coordination with Suwannee County staff, and documentation of completed work that included, but was not limited to, high-quality photographs and aerial drone progress videos.

Our Role

This project utilized JBPro’s expertise in construction project management and CEI inspections. Our involvement was broken down into two phases: pre-construction and construction. Our pre-construction role included reviewing the designs and necessary bid documents to begin construction. We also attended required meetings, whether in the office or on the field.

For inspection and daily updates on the project, we used our drones to capture aerial imagery and closely monitor progress at different project milestones including, but not limited to, the pipe fusion phase (a stage where thermoplastic pipes are quickly joined together using novel HDPE fusion equipment), jack and bore operations, and directional drilling.  This provided us with a clear view of the land, the progress being made, and the ability to ensure the construction matched the approved design.
